NEW SEASON, NEW FACES

Astbury

Following the AGM this summer, changes have been made at County Officer level. Michael Barnes (Pinner & Grammarians) stands down as Management Committee chairman.

He takes over from Tom Brownsell (Hendon) as chairman of the Finance Committee, and will continue to serve on the Management Committee.

Brownsell becomes chairman of the Management Committee, relinquishing both the chairmanship of the Finance Committee and his position as Honorary Secretary.

Michael Maillou (Kilburn Cosmos) becomes an Officer and earns a seat on the Management Committee as steps up from assistant treasurer to fill the Honorary Treasurer position.

Paul Astbury (Centaurs) and Steve Rac (Staines) continue to serve as President and Honorary Secretary respectively, and Immediate Past President John Gunner (Rosslyn Park) has been made a full Management Committee member.

Changes have been made too within a number of Middlesex Rugby committees, bringing in new blood and new ideas. All the committees and sub committees are shown on the structure page.

Rugby administration is an important part of developing the game at grassroots level and ensuring an abundance of opportunities for people to play the game. Whether you are looking for advice on planning and overseas tours, safeguarding children, funding streams to improve your club facilities, or strategic club development, Middlesex Rugby is here to help.

The role of Middlesex Rugby:

Encourage all participants within the County to abide by the game's
    core values

Provide development opportunities for players, coaches, referees,
     volunteers and administrators

Support and strengthen our clubs, schools, colleges and
universities at all levels and in all age groups and sections
     of the game

Improve communications with our clubs, patrons, other constituent
bodies, the RFU and the wider game

Manage the County activities effectively, efficiently and economically.

2010 - 2011 Season Secretary's Report

Steve Rac
Honorary Secretary

The end of the season has rolled around once again and, as we now all look forward to a break over the summer, it is time to reflect on the activities of Middlesex Rugby over the past year.

The County continues to maintain strong links with the member clubs and I am very pleased to be able to report that we have been able to welcome several new clubs into the fold this season following their successful applications for affiliation to the County.

Grass roots clubs are the lifeblood of our game and we will continue to welcome all newcomers, especially now that we have streamlined things, making it a lot less onerous than before for new clubs to pass through the application and approval process.

On the subject of clubs, judging by the number of applications that have passed across my desk this season, it seems that our clubs have not lost any enthusiasm for overseas touring. Long may touring be a central part of our game whether they happen here at home or in far flung corners of foreign lands. I look forward to seeing more applications soon for your planned overseas
pre-season expeditions!
