Middlesex Rugby

New RUSLO appointed

Sam Hibbs joins the Team

My name is Sam Hibbs and I am the new RUSLO for London North, looking after the club development of IHE’s and IFE’s in the region.

My background in rugby started at my secondary school, St Dunstan’s College in South East London, where I played 1st XV level and a brief tour in the 2nd XV at the Old Dunstonian’s. In 2002 I worked in South Africa (Cape Town) for 8 months where I coached school level rugby (U14) and obtained my level 1 SARFU Referee qualification. On returning to the UK I played 2nd XV Rugby for Reading University alongside 1st team squash.

My first job was as Vice President Sports and Societies at Reading University Students Union where I oversaw the running of 55 clubs and over 60 societies. I held this job alongside a year long voluntary role as BUSA (British Universities Sports Association) Student Director. Here my role was over seeing student sport in the UK and working towards the creation of a single HE sport body. It is from here that I have moved onto my current role at the RFU.

I aim to build upon the work of my predecessors, and work with both IHE and IFE to develop student rugby, increase the numbers of HEDRPs and club links to get students involved in rugby both in and outside of their institutions. I also ensure Club Committees have the information they need to effectively and efficiently run their clubs.

I can be contacted on 0750 669 6690 or samhibbs@rfu.com

Yours in Rugby,

Sam Hibbs
